Letter from our Class President

OLYMPUS HIGH SCHOOL

CLASS OF 1968

Re: 50 year Reunion

Dear Classmates,

The day that none of us thought of 50 years ago has arrived – our 50 year reunion!  Come join us for a “golden” opportunity to renew old friendships, and make new acquaintances on September 8, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the newly remodeled Cottonwood Country Club.  Speaking of remodeling, all are invited to gather for a tour/social of the newly rebuilt Olympus High School on Friday evening, September 7th at 6:00 p.m.  Additionally on that day, there will be a Ladies Open House with a light lunch at the home of Cynthia Mackey Eldredge from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Test your golfing skills on the Cottonwood Country Club 9 hole par 3 golf course on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. culminating that evening with a social hour beginning at 6:00 p.m. followed by a buffet, program and a whole lot of catching up with friends. This will be a wonderful event, 50 years in the making!

Historians agree, 1968 was a pivotal year in the history of our country.  This is not news to us, as we lived and experienced it.  Our lives have been shaped and colored by events of that year. Many of my most enduring memories include events of those controversial days – including representing OHS with Mick Boyle in Washington, D.C. at Boys Nation, as the Vietnam War protests increased, and watching Steve Magleby glued to the T.V. on graduation night, as we received news of the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy.  It will be a good time to celebrate surviving those days, and of the following 50 years as we remember those of our numbers who did not.

Kudos and many thanks to the Organizing Committee who have put in many hours over the last year in preparation for these events.  So come join us! For further information and to register online visit  www.olympushigh68.com.Send your checks payable to Julie Arnold Taylor to her home at 632 Lincoln Place, Salt Lake City, UT 84107.  Paying before August 1st will save you $5.00 per person.

Can’t wait to shake your hands, share an embrace, shed a tear and remember all that made our Olympus High School Class of 1968, so special.  In the words of our “Beloved Supreme Leader for Life” (Brian Moench) “There are three  things in life that no one should miss – his wedding, his funeral and his 50 year high school reunion!”  Well spoken, Doc!

Thanks, best wishes and see you soon!
