I never knew Peter very well. HIghschool was the only time we spoke to each other.  When we did I was always struck by how nice a person he was, and how fresh and innocent..

Peter and I were in DECA together.  On this particular occasion I believe we were talking about a prom or some event where men had to wear a suit.  I remember Peter asking the teacher, "Where do you put your coat when you have to go to the bathroom,  I can't hold it on my lap without falling off?"

"Well Peter," the teacher replied,  "Gentlemen hang their coat on the hook that's on the door."

With all the amazed innocence a highschool boy could have he very truthfully replied, "Oh so that's what they do!"  About a third of the class joined the teacher and had a good natured laugh, after a beat Peter also laughed.  That moment sticks out in my memory as one of completely honest naiveity. I hadn't experienced anything like that before.  All through my life moments like that have been very rare.  I'm going to hang on to this one.
